Episode #7 [æ] as in ‘black’
23 September 2016
Hello. Welcome to this week’s Real English video.
I’m Darcy and today we’ll be working on the [æ] sound as in the word ‘black’. To pronounce this sound, your lower jaw is very low, your mouth is quite open, and the tip of your tongue is just behind your lower teeth.
[æ], [æ], [æ].
Here are a few words that have the [æ] sound: trap, can, fan, paddle.
And here’s a tongue twister to help you practice this sound: “a black spot on the black back of a black spotted hassock”.
Make sure you practice this for at least 1 minute every day and see how good you can get by next week.
Good luck, and see you next Friday!
