Episode #6 [ɛ] as in ‘ten’
23 September 2016
Hello, and welcome to this week’s Real English video.
I’m Darcy and this week we’ll be working on the [ɛ] vowel as in the word ‘ten’. To pronounce this sound, your lower jaw lowers, your mouth is open, and the tip of your tongue is just behind your lower teeth.
[ɛ], [ɛ], [ɛ].
Here are a few words with the [ɛ] sound: friend, stress, dress, seven.
And here’s a tongue twister to help you practice this sound: “seventy seven benevolent elephants”.
Make sure you practice this at least a minute every day and see how good you can get by next week.
Good luck, and see you next Friday!
