Episode #17 [aɪ] as in ‘fly’
9 December 2016
I’m Darcy, and welcome to this week’s Real English video.
Today we’ll be working on the [aɪ] sound. This is another diphthong which means that your tongue changes position from the beginning to the end of the sound.
To pronounce this sound, your tongue starts in the low [a] position and ends in the front, high [ɪ] position.
[aɪ], [aɪ], [aɪ].
Here are a few words that have the [aɪ] sound: bye, right, fly, nice.
And here’s a tongue twister to help you practice this sound: There’s no need to light a night-light on a light night like tonight.
Make sure you practice a little bit everyday and see how good you can get.
Good luck and see you next Friday!
